Researchers at Boston University have requested to study the brain of former NFFL player Adam Philips, who recently killed five people including himself, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31223923/brain-phillip-adams-former-nfl-player-killed-five-examined-cte" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>The Associated Press</em></a> .

The York County Coroner’s office reached out to Boston University for the purpose of studying Adams’ brain to investigate if he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), coroner Sabrina Gast said in a statement. CTE is a degenerative brain disease found in athletes linked to repeated head traumas.

Adams’ father did <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qw2tcbMy25A">speak publicly</a> about his son, claiming, that “football messed him up.”

Dr. Robert Lesslie was one of the victims who was killed by Phillip Adams, as well as his wife Barbara, their grandchildren, who were 5 and 9 years old, and James Lewis. He also shot Robert Shook who is in a critical condition.

Phillip Adams played for six different teams during his five-year career. After being a standout cornerback for North Carolina State, Adams was unable to translate his talents at the professional level. We won’t know the results on Adams’ brain until later in the month.
