Robinson Ignites 23-0 Run as Pistons Stun Celtics in Season Opener

Duncan Robinson erupted for 15 fourth-quarter points as Detroit erased a 22-point hole to shock Boston 121-113 on opening day.

The 2025-26 NBA season opened with a shock. The Detroit Pistons came back from 22 points down to beat the visiting Boston Celtics 121-113 on Tuesday afternoon.

Duncan Robinson was the architect. He scored 15 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter, and his shooting powered a 23-0 Detroit run that flipped the game. Boston had looked in control, but it had no answer once the Pistons got hot.

Jalen Duren and Cade Cunningham each finished with 22 points. Duren gave Detroit force around the rim, and Cunningham steadied the offense as the crowd got louder. Together they gave Robinson's long-range shooting the support it needed to finish the job.

Paul George put up 38 points for Boston in a losing effort. His scoring built the early cushion, but it wasn't enough once the run began. The Celtics will have plenty to review after letting a big lead disappear on night one.
