Sadio Mane, Thiago recover from coronavirus

Share

Senegalese international Sadio Mane has returned to training on Monday following his self-isolation period after testing positive for coronavirus.

Mane's recovery comes as a huge boost for Liverpool ahead of the Merseyside derby against Everton this weekend.

Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip all returned to training today, and they are expected to be ready for the clash against the Toffees.

Mane and Thiago were all smiles in training at Melwood on Tuesday, having completed their respective periods of self-isolation after both recently tested positive for coronavirus.

Both Mane and Thiago missed Liverpool's last game before the international break, when they were thrashed 7-2 by Aston Villa in one of the most remarkable results in Premier League history.

The pair also missed games for their respective countries during the international break as they continued to self-isolate.

Guinean midfielder Naby Keita was the second Liverpool player to test positive during the break, following on from Xherdan Shaqiri who later tested negative enabling him to rejoin his Switzerland teammates.
