Ghana Premier League champions' boss Edmund Ackah draws a firm line on integrity, while also slamming the TV snub of Samartex home games.
A Ghanaian club boss has put his integrity on the line. FC Samartex 1996 General Manager Edmund Ackah says he will walk away from his job the moment the club gets involved in match-fixing or any other illegal activity, a bold statement in a sport where trust is everything.
Speaking in a radio interview with Asempa FM, Ackah voiced strong confidence in the club's leadership and the way its affairs are run. Still, the seasoned administrator was blunt about where he stands: if wrongdoing ever creeps in, he is gone.
Ackah has been central to the rise of the Samreboi-based side. Under his stewardship, Samartex lifted their first Ghana Premier League title in the 2023/24 season, a landmark triumph for a club from outside the traditional football heartlands.
The GM also used the platform to raise another grievance. He expressed disappointment over reports that Samartex home games are not being shown on television, saying the club was told its location and the distance involved were part of the reason. Ackah called that explanation unfair, and he pushed back on doubts about whether the Nsenkyire Sports Arena is suitable for live broadcasts, making clear he believes the champions deserve the same exposure as everyone else.
