Ghana's Division One heats up as Semper Fi FC hammer ex-Premier League side WAFA SC and Inter Allies keep their unbeaten start alive.
Ghana's lower-division scene is starting to sizzle, and Semper Fi FC just sent a loud message to Zone Three. On Sunday at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex, the hosts demolished former Premier League side WAFA SC 5-0 in the UMB Division One League.
Boakye Kofi Yiadom got the party started in the 22nd minute, and Emmanuel Adjei Laryea doubled the advantage just five minutes later. Semper Fi went into the break 2-0 up and firmly in control.
Yiadom wrapped up his brace in the 61st minute, then Samuel Adonteng Owusu made it 4-0 with a stunning strike ten minutes after that. Sheriff Massawadu put the finishing touch on the rout in the 86th minute. The win lifts Semper Fi to 13 points from five matches and keeps them top of the Zone Three table.
Elsewhere in the zone, Inter Allies kept their unbeaten start to the season intact with a 2-1 away win over FC Nania at Legon Nania Park on Saturday. Amos Teye Okutu put the visitors ahead in the 41st minute, and McCarthy Francis Kwabena pulled FC Nania level in the 71st. Inter Allies still found a way to hold on and take all three points.
