Owen Wilson returns as Pryce Cahill in Stick's second season, chasing a US Open dream with a stacked lineup of guest stars.
Golf fans in need of a feel-good fix, your tee time has arrived. Stick is back for a second season, and Owen Wilson's Pryce Cahill is dragging himself out of retirement with one wild ambition: winning the US Open.
Pryce is not losing sleep over his midlife crisis. He cheerfully reminds everyone that Moses, Churchill and Charlie Sheen all had one too. Fans of the first season will know the drill, since he has been wandering through that crisis with charm and good humor for as long as the show has existed.
What makes Stick work is its mix of laid-back energy and real emotional weight. It looks like a lightweight half-hour hangout comedy, but it keeps sneaking in heartfelt moments that stay with you. Think of it as the cold drink on the couch after a long week of heavy dramas and grim documentaries.
Season two also ups the star power, with a run of impressive new guest appearances that keep the laughs flowing and the stakes rising. If you want a comeback story with plenty of heart, plus a golf-course backdrop and Wilson's easygoing delivery, this one belongs on your weekly watchlist.
