Ghana's Bernard Tekpetey bagged a double as captain, steering Ludogorets to a 5-0 demolition of Arda Kardzhali in Bulgaria.
Ghana's Bernard Tekpetey was the star in Bulgaria on Monday night. He scored twice and wore the armband as Ludogorets Razgrad crushed Arda Kardzhali 5-0 at the Ludogorets Arena in the Bulgarian First League.
The former Schalke winger broke the deadlock in the 44th minute. He found a tight angle and smashed a left-footed finish home. He wasn't done before the interval, adding a second from a free kick just before the break to put the hosts firmly in control.
Fans were quick to recognise his influence. Tekpetey took 59% of the vote to be named Man of the Match. At 29, he is still one of the key figures in the Ludogorets setup, and he led the team out on the night.
The result is a statement for a club desperate to win back the league title it lost last season to Levski Sofia. Tekpetey's form is a big part of that push. He already has four goals and two assists in seven league games this season.
The Ghanaian is expected to captain Ludogorets again on Saturday, when they face Beroe in the Bulgarian Cup.
