Brandon Thomas-Asante set up Coventry's equaliser at Tottenham, but Spurs hit back to win 3-1 and hand the Sky Blues a fifth defeat.
Ghana's Brandon Thomas-Asante put his creativity on show in the Premier League on Monday night, laying on Coventry City's goal in a 3-1 defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur. It was his second assist of the 2026/27 campaign, but this time it came in a losing effort.
The winger came into the week seven clash full of confidence after an impressive showing in Coventry's big win over Newcastle United last weekend. He started at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and was involved in the game's key moments for the visitors.
Another Ghanaian had the first big say. Mohammed Kudus picked out James Maddison on the edge of the Coventry box in the 14th minute, and the midfielder fired in a stunning strike to send Spurs into the break with a slim lead.
Coventry returned sharper after the interval and levelled in the 49th minute. Thomas-Asante supplied the pass for Jack Rudoni, who finished to make it 1-1 and bring the visitors right back into the contest.
The joy did not last. Omar Marmoush and Ben Davies scored later in the match to give Tottenham the 3-1 win. It leaves Coventry with a fifth defeat of the season, and Thomas-Asante with a good individual contribution but nothing to show for it in the table.
