Semper Fi, Ebusua Dwarfs and Mighty Royals each have a man in the running for the September/October NASCO UMB Division One League award.
Ghana's second-tier scene has three new names in the spotlight. Kofi Boakye Yiadom of Semper Fi, Alhassan Adamu of Ebusua Dwarfs and Osman Zackaria of Mighty Royals have been nominated for the NASCO UMB Division One League Player of the Month award for September/October.
The shortlist was announced by the GFA's communications department, and it puts a well-deserved spotlight on the grassroots of Ghanaian football, where the next generation of Black Stars hopefuls is often forged.
The three contenders are:
- Kofi Boakye Yiadom (Semper Fi) - Alhassan Adamu (Ebusua Dwarfs) - Osman Zackaria (Mighty Royals)
There's a prize on the table, too. The eventual winner will take home a 32-inch TV set courtesy of Electroland Ghana Limited, a nice reward for a standout two months of work.
With three clubs represented, the race looks wide open. Division One football rarely gets the headlines, which makes moments like this matter even more for the players grinding it out week after week.
