<span style="font-weight: 400;">A total of 8 deaths and 50 left injured were reported after being trampled by the crowd just outside the Cameroonian football stadium prior to the AFCON match on Monday. Deaths include at least 7 adults, and 1 child. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">According to some attendees, the stampede was caused by large crowds trying to force their way into the stadium through the southern entrance while stewards resisted their entrance. Witnesses also claimed that children were among those victimized by the event. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Some have dealt with minor wounds, a few were found unconscious, and many have suffered from severe injuries. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that they are completely aware of the incident, and that further investigation will be done to get more details of the tragedy that has occurred. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">A statement from FIFA read: <em>"FIFA sends its deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims who lost their lives following the tragic incident that took place at Olembe Stadium during the Africa Cup of Nations fixture between Cameroon and Comoros."</em></span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">"The thoughts and prayers of the global football community are with the victims, the ones who have been injured in this incident, and all the staff of both CAF and the Cameroonian Football Association (FECAFOOT) at this difficult moment."</span>
