Cole Palmer's England future is up for debate as Thomas Tuchel weighs his No.10 options for the next squad.
Thomas Tuchel has a selection headache that most international managers would happily swap for, and it comes with a blue Chelsea shirt on it. Cole Palmer's place in the next England squad is the talk of the Three Lions camp as the fight for the No.10 shirt rages on.
On his day, Palmer is a game-changer. He drifts between the lines, picks passes others don't see, and has a habit of delivering in the biggest moments, whether from open play or the penalty spot. That kind of coolness under pressure is exactly what tournament football demands, and it is why plenty of supporters see him as a must-pick.
The counterargument is about consistency and fit. Tuchel has a stacked pool of creative talents to choose from, and each offers something different, from direct dribbling to link-up play to a stronger defensive shift. Palmer's detractors point to spells where his influence fades, and they question how he slots into a system built around balance rather than individual brilliance.
That is the real dilemma for Tuchel: back the player with the highest ceiling, or lean on the one who best suits his structure? Every squad announcement now doubles as a statement of intent, and Palmer's name, in or out, will say plenty about how Tuchel wants England to play heading into the next major tournament.
