Tunisian Jendoubi Wins Bronze In Under 58 kg Taekwondo

Tunisian Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi won the bronze medal in the under-58kg taekwondo weight class, defeating Spain's Vicente Adrian, at the Paris 2024™ Olympic Games on Wednesday.

This is the second medal for Al-Jandoubi (22 years old) in the Olympic Games after the silver medal in the same weight in the Tokyo Olympics in the summer of 2021, and the second for his country in the current edition after the silver medal for fencer Fares Farjani in the sword category.

Jendoubi played four matches on Wednesday, winning the first in the round of 16 against Serbian Lev Korneev 2-0 (5-3 and 9-3), and the second in the quarter-finals against Australian Bailey Lewis 2-0 (7-4 and 6-3).

But in the semi-finals, where he was looking to play the decisive match for the second consecutive edition, he fell to South Korea's Taejun Park 0-2.

In the first round, Jendoubi was behind 0-2 and then equalized 2-2 in the last 5 seconds. But the young South Korean scored two penalties that decided the round 6-2. Jendoubi felt the danger, so he exchanged the lead with the fifth seed who was the better player in the end and won the second round 13-6 and thus the match.

In the bronze medal match with the Spaniard, the Tunisian dominated both rounds and played with his opponent, easily winning the bronze.
