Upper East football's power brokers meet in Bolgatanga on October 29 to shape the 2026/27 season and the future of grassroots football.
Ghana's grassroots football machine is warming up for 2026/27, and Upper East is setting the tone. The Upper East Regional Football Association (UERFA) will hold its 2026 Ordinary Congress on Thursday, October 29, at the Bolgatanga Regional House of Chiefs Hall, with proceedings starting at 10:00am.
As the Association's highest decision-making body, the Congress is where the region's football business gets settled. Delegates, club representatives and other stakeholders will look back at the season just ended and decide how the next campaign should be run.
The agenda is packed. Members will consider the Activity Report, the Financial Statements and the Auditor's Report, then vote on the budget for the new season. They will also discuss the 2026/27 competitions calendar, football development programmes and other matters tied to the administration and growth of the game in the region.
The meeting also gives the Executive Council, led by Chairman Alhaji Salifu Seidu Zida, a chance to sit down with clubs and stakeholders and review progress. It is also a platform to confront the challenges facing grassroots football in the region, with members expected to contribute to the discussions.
In Ghana, the pipeline to the top starts in regional leagues like this one, so what gets decided in Bolgatanga on October 29 will matter well beyond the hall.
