Aston Villa made it three wins from three in the Champions League, brushing aside Norwegian side Viking to climb to second in the league phase.
Aston Villa are making a serious statement on the European stage. The Premier League side beat Norwegian outfit Viking to make it three wins from three in the Champions League, and they were commanding from start to finish.
The dominant display lifts Villa to second in the league phase table. In a format where every result shifts the standings, a flawless start puts them in a strong position as the campaign moves toward its decisive stretch.
Viking arrived as clear underdogs and could not disrupt Villa's rhythm. The English side controlled the contest and made sure the three points never looked in doubt, the kind of professional performance that top-eight hopefuls need on a European night.
Three games, three wins and a place near the top of the table is the sort of momentum that can shape a whole campaign. Villa will now aim to keep it going and turn a brilliant start into a place in the knockout rounds.
