Heart of Lions forward Mustapha Yakubu says the Kpando side must beat Hearts of Oak to fix a shaky Ghana Premier League campaign.
Heart of Lions are fighting to find their feet in the Ghana Premier League, and one of their own attackers is not pretending otherwise. Forward Mustapha Yakubu has openly admitted that the Kpando outfit have been below par so far this season.
The club's latest outing offered some relief. They ground out a 2-1 win over Bechem United to end a three-game losing run. It was only their third victory of the campaign, and it lifts them to 12th in the table after nine rounds of fixtures.
Now comes a far bigger test: a week 10 trip to face Hearts of Oak on Sunday, November 8. Yakubu expects a hard contest but sees it as a chance to change the mood around the club. He says the squad is preparing with the Bechem result as fuel, and he believes Heart of Lions need the points more than the Phobians do.
That honesty is a good sign for a side searching for consistency. One win does not fix a season, but beating one of Ghana's most storied clubs would do plenty for belief in Kpando. Heart of Lions know the table will not wait for them.
