FC Ashantigold boss Karim Zito says the 1-1 stalemate with Asante Kotoko was a fair result in a tight Ghana Premier League Week 8 clash.
Ghana's most storied rivalry produced another tense affair at the Len Clay Sports Stadium, where FC Ashantigold and Asante Kotoko cancelled each other out in a 1-1 draw in Week 8 of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Ashantigold head coach Abdul Karim Zito was pleased with the point and felt the scoreline told the story of the afternoon. He admitted his side carved out plenty of chances but pointed to the Kotoko goalkeeper as the man who kept the Miners at bay. "In the first half we took it, and in the second half we shared it," Zito said, adding that both teams created openings and that he was simply happy his players avoided defeat.
The draw leaves the Miners in eleventh place on the league table. Kotoko, the Porcupine Warriors, sit ninth, one point clear of their rivals, so neither side managed to pull away in a congested chase.
Both clubs now turn to Week 9. Asante Kotoko will welcome Medeama SC at home, while Ashantigold travel to face Swedru All Blacks, with each side looking to turn a hard-fought draw into a winning run.
