Ghana international Asamoah Gyan has hit out at the police officer responsible for the murder of George Floyd.
In an angry rant on Instagram, the footballer described the actions of police officer Chauvin as foolish and wicked.
The dark-skinned man died on Monday after a police officer handcuffed him to the ground and pressed his knee on his (Floyd’s) neck for almost eight minutes.
Footages from the incident showed the victim telling the officer that he was struggling to breathe, but the policeman still kept his knee on his neck.
Helplessly and haplessly suffocated, the 46-year-old passed out and subsequently died at a hospital in Minnesota.
His murder has, however, awoken conversations regarding police brutality and racial injustice against persons of colour.
Add his voice to the call for justice, former Sunderland forward Gyan said arresting the guilty police officer is not enough.
“Good news. Kwasia (means “foolish” in the Twi language) like that. But I heard he was charged with 3rd-degree murder. For me, it’s not enough. A wicked, evil so-called cop,” the Ghanaian wrote on Instagram.
