Ansu Fati will not leave Barcelona this summer despite receiving an offer of 100 million euros from Manchester United, according to the Catalan club’s director Xavier Vilajoana.
Fati is one of the hottest prospects in European football and became Barcelona’s youngest ever goal scorer earlier this season.
The youngster has made 24 appearances in the first team this season, finding the back of the net five times.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Manchester United saw Fati as a possible replacement to Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho and had opened talks with super agent Jorge Mendes to engineer a move to Old Trafford.
But Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is desperate to keep the winger at the club and views him as a key part of Barca’s future.
And his view was echoed by director Vilajona who dismissed the validity of the reports, insisting there has been no contact with United.
“For us, there’s no story with Ansu, we have never spoken about selling him,” he told the same outlet which produced the spurious report. “We won’t use players from the academy to make cash.
“In principle, we have no intention of selling the players we believe will make the first team.”
Fati became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer and is known to be highly regarded by Lionel Messi.
