Former Manchester United attacking coach Benni McCarthy is set to become the new Kenya national team coach.
The Football Kenya Association (FKA) have been weighing several options after the exit of Engine Firat as they seek temporary solution in Francis Kimanzi whom they appointed as interim.
The former Wazito manager has been preparing the team for the invitational Mapinduzi Cup tournament that would take place in Zanzibar from January 3.
However, according to Flashscore.com, McCarthy will join officially on or before January 10th as he is also expected to bring an assistant although Kenya will also provide one too.
The former FC Porto and Blackburn Rovers striker was United’s attacking coach under Erik ten Hag for two seasons.
McCarthy has worked as a head coach in the past in his native South Africa.
He was the manager of Cape Town City between 2017 and 2019, and was in charge of AmaZulu from 2020 to 2022.
