‘CAF Champions League, Confederation Cup will resume ‘very soon’ – secretary-general

The acting secretary-general of the Confederation of African Football, Abdelmounaïm Bah, announced on Sunday that the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup will resume very soon, after it was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are doing well, even if the health situation remains worrying. We try to be patient while respecting the measures decreed by the health authorities. We hope that this crisis will soon be behind us,” the CAF secretary-general was quoted as saying on radiosportinfo.

“Besides, this year we have four magnificent posters that are not to be missed,” he said.

All African sports activities have been suspended over the pandemic, including the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup, which were originally scheduled to be played on 1 May.

Prior to the postponement, Egypt’s big names Ahly and Zamalek had been set to play Champions League semi-finals against Moroccan sides Wydad de Casablanca and Raja de Casablanca respectively.
