Chelsea continued to tighten the noose on leaders Liverpool after beating their guest Brentford 2-1 in the 16th round of the English Premier League.
Chelsea took the lead through Spanish player Marc Cucurella in the 43rd minute (who was sent off in the 90+8th minute after receiving a second yellow card).
Before his teammate Nicholas Jackson added the score for the Blues on the 80th.
While Brentford scored their only goal in the last moments through their player Brian Mbeumo.
Chelsea are in second place with 34 points, while Brentford are in 11th place with 23 points.
From the stadium of its host, Southampton, Tottenham returned to the winning track after beating it 5-0, with James Maddison opening the scoring in the first minute.
The visitors’ lead was extended by South Korean Heung-Min Son in the 12th minute, and just two minutes later Dejan Kulusevski added a third for Tottenham.
Before Senegalese Pape Sarr extended the score to four goals in the 25th minute.
Moments before the end of the first half, Maddison returned to visit Southampton’s net again, concluding Tottenham’s five goals, which achieved its first victory after three rounds in which it did not taste victory.
