College football player Aaron Lowe killed in shooting less than a year after teammate Ty Jordan

Aaron Lowe died in a shooting at house party early Sunday, less than a year after teammate Ty Jordan was killed in an accidental shooting.

Salt Lake City police said the 21-year-old Lowe was killed just after midnight, a few hours after the Utes beat Washington State 24-13.

Lowe, a defensive back in his third season as a Utah Ute, was the first recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship, an award created to honor former Utes player Ty Jordan, who also passed away following an accidental shooting in December 2020.

Tragically, Lowe and Jordan were actually best friends and high school teammates. Lowe wore the jersey no. 22 as a way to honor Jordan.

Lowe appeared in 11 games on special teams in his freshman season, five in his sophomore season and each of Utah’s first three games of the current season.
