Former NBA star Damian Lillard says Lebron James deserves to be the 2019-20 Most Valuable Player.
According to him, the Los Angeles Lakers man has been the most dominant player this season.
Many pundits of the game believe the race for the MVP is a straight fight between James and Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Lillard insists either of the aforementioned players would be a worthy recipient to be crowned MVP, but goes for James as his top pick.
“I don’t think you can go wrong with LeBron or Giannis. But in my opinion, it’s LeBron,” he said on the Dan Patrick Show.
“Just because they’re the number one seed in the Western Conference. And I feel like he’s had a dominant season… In year 17? Leading the league in assists.”
Lillard, who played for the Portland Trail Blazers, said James had transformed the Lakers since joining them.
In his view, the 35-year-old has moved the side from a non-playoff team to number one in the West.
Meanwhile, the Lakers will be making their first play-off appearance in seven years.
Should James win the 2019-20 MVP award, it will be the fifth of his glittering career in the NBA.
