Former Cameroon and Arsenal midfielder Alex Song joins Djibouti club Arta/Solar7

Former FC Barcelona and Cameroon midfielder, Alex Song, has joined Djiboutian side AS Arta Solar7 in a shock move.

According to Football237 via L’Equipe, the former Cameroon star has penned a two-year deal with the Djiboutian giants, eight months after he was released by Sion.

“I have signed a two year contract with Arta. This is an opportunity to promote Djibouti football”, the former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder announced on twitter.

The 33-year-old has been a free agent since March when he and eight other players were dismissed by Swiss club FC Sion for refusing a pay-cut amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

Arta won last season’s Djibouti Cup as they finished fourth in country’s top flight.
