Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka has been ruled out of the 2020 French Open due to a hamstring injury.
The 22-year-old won the US Open a few days ago after coming from behind to defeat Victoria Azarenka in the final.
However, she will not be able to compete for the French Open, with the tournament set to commence on September 27.
In a statement, Osaka said the tournament came too early and that she won’t be able to recover in time for the French Open.

“My hamstring is still sore so I won’t have enough time to prepare for the clay. These two tournaments came too close to each other for me,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, world number one Ashleigh Barty has already announced her decision to pull out of the French Open due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Multiple Grand Slam winner Roger Federer will also miss out on the men’s draw, as he’s currently nursing a knee injury.
Organisers of the French Open have also reduced the number of fans allowed to attend each game to 5,000 due to the pandemic.
