Real Betis and LaLiga joined forces to support a Children’s Home, the Safe Haven for Children at an event held at the Children’s home in Ikorodu Lagos.
Safe Haven for Children, a charity organization set up to alleviate the plight of street children removes vulnerable children and adolescents abandoned or orphaned from the streets for rehabilitation and empowerment.
Desmond Chiji, LaLiga Delegate in Nigeria, reiterated LaLiga’s plan of supporting community-based projects: “This project is one of our ways of contributing to the community, we have carried out projects like this in other parts of Africa, and we will continue to do so. From LaLiga we are very grateful for involvement of the Real Betis Foundation and their aim to spread the green and white passion all around the globe”.
On behalf of Real Betis, Rafa Muela, RBB Foundation General Manager, stated: “Real Betis has in its DNA humanitarian values as important as solidarity and we consider education as one of the most fundamental rights of each child, be it of wherever, in order to achieve a better society among all in line with SDG 4. Therefore, collaborations like this allow us to recognize ourselves as a Club and as a Foundation”.
Real Betis is sharing the green and white values around the world through its Foundation and the international business development department of the Club. Its objective is not only to discover and train new talents, but to provide access to a good education around the world. For its part, LaLiga, an active partner in African football for several years, is also very committed to sharing its resources and best practices that help strengthen football in Africa.
Segun Adeniyi, founder of Daraya Sports, the organization that mediated between Betis, LaLiga and Safe Haven for Children expressed his delight at the success of the project “There is room for improvement in our grassroot sports development and projects like this help bridge the gap. We are deeply of the support from LaLiga and Real Betis, and we look forward to building a better future for the Children”.
Real Betis and LaLiga donated football equipment and educational materials to support the project.
