Newly-signed Bayern Munich attacker Leroy Sane has given a hint of how close Chelsea are to signing Kai Havertz.
The Germany international last week completed a big-money move Manchester City to Bayern Munich.
Speaking at his introductory press conference, Sane appeared to unintentionally confirm Havertz’s move to Chelsea.
Raphael Honigstein says he was asked: “why are German footballers in demand by EPL clubs right now, with Werner to Chelsea and Havertz said to be close.”
The winger replied: “Always good players in Germany. This year, it’s Werner and Havertz… I think Chelsea have maybe got in there.”
Havertz is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Europe at the moment and has attracted interest from a couple of elite clubs.
The 21-year-old has had an amazing season with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, contributing both goals and assists.
Having already acquired the services of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werna, Chelsea have turned their attention to signing the German starlet.
Leverkusen are reportedly willing to allow their star man join the Blues should an offer in the region of £63 million be tabled.
