Mike Tyson has reportedly turned down a huge $18 million offer to challenge MMA legend Wanderlei Silva in his comeback fight.
Marca reports that Iron Mike was offered the huge money to face off with Wanderlei in a bare knuckle fight.
However, the 53-year-old is said to have rejected the offer, setting his sights on returning to traditional boxing.
Tyson’s trainer Rafael Cordeiro reiterated that the boxer wants his comeback to be in boxing.
“Tyson is getting ready to do a boxing match with gloves,”Cordeiro said, as quoted by Globo.
The boxing legend has been out of the ring for over 15 years, but recently announced details of the contract for his much-talked-about boxing comeback.
“We’ve got many guys. Listen we’ve got so many guys that want to do this man,” he said on Lil Wayne’s Young Money Radio.
“We’re in calls, we’re doing business with guys right now. You’re not going to believe the names when the names come out. Some time this week we’ll have the contract done.”
Tyson retired from boxing in 2005, calling time on a career that saw him lose just six times in 58 bouts.
He bowed out as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time and, at a point, held the WBA, WBC, and IBF belts at the same time.
