Romelu Lukaku named Serie A best player

Romelu Lukaku has been named Serie A’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2020/21 season.

Lukaku took top spot after scoring 24 league goals for the Nerazzurri, although he also had the highest average rating from the paper with 6.70.

The Belgian was Inter’s heart and soul with and without the ball, the report argued, toiling away tirelessly for his teammates and becoming the league’s most dominant figure.

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie took second place while Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo completed the podium.

Nicolo Barella was fifth on the list, with an average rating of 6.52 throughout the season, while Achraf Hakimi was ranked ninth, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in his debut campaign.

Luis Muriel, Rodrigo de Paul, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lorenzo Insigne and Remo Freuler completed the top 10.
