Spanish La Liga club Sevilla has reached a verbal agreement to sign Nigerian international Chidera Ejuke, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The deal is pending a medical and signature, which are scheduled for next week.
Ejuke, a skilled forward, is a free agent after terminating his contract with CSKA Moscow due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
He subsequently played for Hertha BSC in Germany and Royal Antwerp in Belgium, taking advantage of a FIFA exemption for players active in Russia.
The 26-year-old has also played for Valerenga in Norway and SC Heerenveen in the Netherlands, attracting interest from top clubs like Besiktas JK and Lazio Roma.
Ejuke made his debut for the Nigerian national team in 2020 and was part of the squad that participated in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Sevilla, the most successful team in the UEFA Europa League with seven titles, will be Ejuke’s next destination. The club has also won the LaLiga title once, the Copa del Rey five times, and the UEFA Super Cup in 2006.
