Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio has promised each member of the Sierra Leonean team a US$20,000 booty if they make it to the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Leone Stars have failed to qualify for the continental show piece since they last made it in 1996. They were forced to withdraw from the qualifiers twice as a result of a Civil war, and recently had to suspend all Football activities as part of efforts to control the Ebola Virus Epidemic.
Sierra Leone play 2nd place Benin in a match that can see them leapfrog the ‘Squirrels’ for the other qualifying spot in Group L. The Leone Stars can secure qualification if they beat Benin at Home in a mouthwatering encounter that can also see Benin qualify if they avoid defeat.
The match is scheduled for 16:00 GMT at the National Stadium in Free Town.
