Spanish third-tier side Racing Murcia have a “50-50” chance of signing Barcelona legend Samuel Eto’o, according to the club’s president.
The Cameroon legend retired from football in September 2019, after spending a year at Qatar SC but he could make a surprise return to the pitch to help Antonio Pedreno’s side ahead of their Copa del Rey outing against Levante on December 16.
When talking about the potential transfer of the former Barcelona legend, the president said the move was in the balance.
“At this time in the morning, I would say that the chances of signing Samuel Eto’o are around 50-50,” Pagniello told Radio MARCA. “Next week we will know if we can sign Eto’o, if not we have a plan B prepared. “He would have to play if we signed him, it is the coach’s job to fit him in the team.
“We are clear that the game against Levante is very important and it is time for exceptions. When talking about the radical idea of playing the game in the United Arab Emirates, Pagniello explained why he was confident. “We have several investors in Mexico and the UAE who can financially back this operation.”
