Chelsea have announced the signing of centre-back Thiago Silva following the Brazilian’s departure from PSG.
The 35-year-old spent eight years in France with the Parisians but decided to leave upon the expiration of his contract.
Thiago has signed a one-year deal with the Premier League side with an option to extend for a further year.
The veteran defender won numerous titles with PSG, including seven Ligue 1 titles and five five Coupes de la Ligue.
He won the treble with PSG last season and captained the club to their first-ever Champions League final, where they lost to Bayern Munich.
“We are delighted to be able to add a player of Thiago Silva’s proven world-class credentials to our squad,” Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said of Thiago’s signing.
“Having performed at the highest level for many years, we have no doubt his experience and quality will complement the many exciting talents we already have here.
“Thiago will be an excellent fit and we hope he can add some new trophies to his impressive list of honours.”
The Brazilian defender becomes Chelsea fifth big signing this summer after Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Malang Sarr also joined the Blues.
