Togolese forward Kossi Edem Koudagba has passed away at the age of 24 after battling a short illness.
The young forward represented his country at the WAFU Cup of Nations hosted by Senegal in October 2019.
Koudagba played for ASC Kara, who are the Togolese champions, until his unfortunate demise.
In a statement on Facebook, the club said it was pained by the player’s death, adding that he died from an unconfirmed illness.
“It is with great pain that the executive board of ASCK announce the passing of our player, Edem Kossi Koudagba.
“Let us all pray for his soul’s rest, and may the Almighty welcome him to his home,” the statement read.
The striker was the top scorer in the Togolese league in 2018 and helped his side win the title that year.
Koudagba was also a member of coach Claude Le Roy Togo squad during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
