Tottenham Hotspur have offered their condolences to Serge Aurier after the defender’s brother was shot dead in France.
Christopher Aurier, the right-back’s brother, was reportedly shot outside a nightclub in Toulouse.
The 26-year-old is said to have sustained a gunshot wound in his stomach and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The perpetrator is still at large after fleeing the scene, but French police say they are investigating the incident.
Christopher was also a footballer, who played for French fifth-tier side Toulouse Rodeo.
Hours of his death was confirmed, Tottenham released a statement consoling Serge.
“The club is deeply saddened to confirm media reports that Serge Aurier’s brother passed away in the early hours of this morning,” it read.
“Everybody at the club sends their sincerest condolences to Serge and his family. Our thoughts are with them all.”
