Washington Wizards broadcaster Glenn Consor apologized Thursday (Jan. 6) for his unfortunate and mistaken remarks to Rocket’s guard Kevin Porter Jr.s father as he shot the game-winning shot on Wednesday night’s game.
After hitting the shot and beating the Wizards 114-111. Consor gave a somewhat surprising comment that quickly didn’t sit nor end well to a lot of fans watching.
The announcer said…
“You’ve got to give credit. Kevin Porter Jr., like his dad, pulled that trigger right at the right time.”

I can’t believe this was actually said on the Wizards broadcast.. Completely inexcusable. pic.twitter.com/bZcWEVqPOP

Consor quickly apologized for his questionable remarks and has since reached out to Porter. He thought he was the son of former NBA player Kevin Porter who played for the Washington franchise in the ’70s and ’80s.
I want to sincerely apologize to Kevin Porter Jr and clarify last night’s call. pic.twitter.com/UweFhFnkbt

Little to his knowledge, Porter’s, Bryna Kevin Porter Sr., reportedly pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the shooting death of a 14-year-old girl in 1993. In 2004, he was shot at a bar, Kevin Porter Jr. was just 4 years old when his father passed away.
What Conor said brought a lot of backlash and was instantly frowned upon on social media. The news has also reached Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and called out Consor on being outdated.
It may have been an honest mistake, and it remains very insensitive and bad. Lesson learned for Consor to do his proper research to avoid this from ever happening again.
