Former Spain international Xavi is reportedly in talks with Barcelona to become the club’s manager.
The 40-year-old is currently the manager of Qatari side Al Sadd, but has been widely linked with a return to the Catalans.
Barcelona are enduring a torrid season so far, with manager Quique Setien coming under intense pressure.
Reports from Spain indicate that Setien is on the verge of being sacked after failing to overturn results at Camp Nou.
Barcelona have now fallen four points behind rivals Real Madrid in the race to be crowned La Liga champions.
Mundo Deportivo journalist Francesc Aguilar said club officials have met with Xavi with a proposition of him taking over from Setien.
According to him, the ex-Barca midfielder has agreed in principle to become the club’s manager after the Champions League in August.
In a recent interview with SPORT, Xavi revealed his ambitions of becoming Barcelona’s manager.
“The biggest hope I have now is to be Barca coach and get Barca back to winning ways,” he said some months back.
“Not me but these players and Barca triumphing. And as a consequence, our technical staff, who are preparing for it a lot and it makes us really excited
“I’m a club man. I would like to return at the right moment to start a project from zero.
“I’ve said it a lot of times but I want to take footballing decisions at Barcelona.”
