Ghana's David Abagna found the net in Ordabasy's 4-1 away rout of Kaysar, keeping the Kazakhstan Premier League leaders firmly in front.
Ghanaian midfielder David Abagna is making his mark in Kazakhstan. He scored in FC Ordabasy's commanding 4-1 win away at FC Kaysar, a result that tightens the league leaders' grip on top spot in the Kazakhstan Premier League.
Ordabasy set the tone early. Bjorn Johnsen stepped up to convert a penalty in the 15th minute, then added a second in the 33rd to give the visitors a healthy cushion. Kaysar hit back just before the break through Klaidher Macedo, putting some life into the contest at the interval.
Abagna snuffed out any hopes of a comeback eight minutes after the restart. In the 53rd minute, he finished off a move set up by Johnsen to restore the two-goal lead and take the sting out of the hosts. Johnsen then completed his hat-trick in the 72nd minute to seal the win. Ordabasy stay top of the table, while Kaysar sit 15th.
The strike adds to a solid season for the Ghanaian, who has played 22 league matches, scoring three goals and setting up three more. With the campaign entering its final stretch, those contributions are proving valuable for a side chasing the title.
Ordabasy's next test comes against Zhenys on October 17, and Abagna will be aiming to carry his form into that fixture.
