Angel Reese's 30-point, 16-rebound masterclass silences Chase Center and drags the Dream level at 1-1 in the WNBA Finals.
Another night of Black excellence on basketball's biggest stage, and this one belongs to Angel Reese. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year poured in a game-high 30 points and hauled down 16 rebounds on Monday, powering the Atlanta Dream to a 79-65 win over the Golden State Valkyries and squaring the best-of-seven WNBA Finals at 1-1.
Reese made her mark at both ends. Beyond the scoring, she protected the rim with two blocks, added a steal, and dominated the glass, which gave Atlanta extra possessions and took them away from Golden State. It was the kind of two-way performance that justifies her defensive hardware and her reputation as one of the most relentless big-game forces in the league.
The response was just as important as the result. Atlanta lost Game 1 on Saturday, and they walked into a loud, hostile Chase Center needing a statement. They delivered one. The Dream took control and the Valkyries had no answer in the second half, which quieted a home crowd that had been roaring all night.
With the series tied, the Finals now turn into a real fight. Golden State will have to find solutions for Reese's physicality around the basket, while Atlanta will aim to repeat the intensity that carried them in Game 2. If Reese keeps playing like this, the Dream will be a very tough team to stop.
