Kimi Antonelli's third place in Singapore sets up a possible title-clinching weekend in Austin, while Max Verstappen ruled Marina Bay from lights to flag.
Kimi Antonelli is allowing himself to dream. The Mercedes rookie sensation took third at the Singapore Grand Prix, and he could now wrap up his first Formula 1 world championship at the next round in Austin, just two weeks away.
Up front, Max Verstappen delivered a masterclass at Marina Bay. He led from start to finish and left the rest of the field chasing, but the podium finish that mattered most for the title picture belonged to Antonelli.
The numbers are huge. Antonelli leads Mercedes teammate George Russell by 102 points and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton by 111. With six meetings left and 25 points for each race winner, the maths is tight but real. Antonelli needs to win in Austin, with Russell finishing ninth or lower and Hamilton fifth or lower.
If it all falls into place, Antonelli would be crowned at just 20 years old, making him F1's youngest-ever champion. Texas could be the stage for a historic night.
