Alhassan Adamu struck twice as Mysterious Dwarfs edged Nsuopun Fidelity 2-1 to hold the Zone Two summit in Ghana's Division One.
Ghanaian lower-league football delivered another gritty chapter on Sunday, as Mysterious Dwarfs stayed top of Zone Two in the UMB Division One League with a 2-1 win over Nsuopun Fidelity FC at the Robert Mensah Stadium.
The former Premier League side wasted no time. Alhassan Adamu blasted them ahead inside three minutes, and the early strike set the tone. Nsuopun Fidelity refused to fold, though. Seth Asamanyua pulled them level in the 21st minute, and the sides went into the break all square.
Mysterious Dwarfs came out after the interval chasing a second goal and kept pushing. In the 77th minute Adamu found the net again to complete his brace and settle a tight contest. The three points take the Dwarfs to nine from four matches at the top of the zone.
Nations FC are the closest challengers. They beat Elmina Sharks 2-0 at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Saturday. Daniel Lomotey put them in front in the 11th minute, and Effah Joseph sealed the result with a 78th-minute finish. That leaves Nations FC on eight points from four games, just one behind the leaders in a tight Zone Two race.
