Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare says Victor Osimhen urged him to honour the injured Kasper Dolberg with a gesture to the fans.
Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has revealed that a piece of advice from Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen was behind his tribute to injured forward Kasper Dolberg. The gesture came after Ajax's draw with NEC, when Arokodare showed Dolberg's jersey to the supporters.
Arokodare was quick to say the idea wasn't his. He explained that Osimhen told him to do something to honour the sidelined striker, and he acted on it. He also thanked Osimhen for the nudge, a sign of the bond between Nigeria's attackers and the respect they have for one another.
Dolberg is currently out with a knee injury he picked up in a training session. He has already undergone surgery and now begins the long road of rehabilitation, with no return date given.
For Dolberg, a public show of support from a fellow striker will mean a lot while he works his way back. For Arokodare and Osimhen, it is a reminder that solidarity between forwards can matter as much as the goals they score.
