Ghana's Ernest Nuamah is fit again and in Lyon's squad for Brest, easing worries ahead of the Black Stars' AFCON qualifiers against Somalia.
Good news for Ghana: Ernest Nuamah is back. The winger has recovered from a muscle problem and has been named in Olympique Lyonnais' squad for Sunday's Ligue 1 trip to Stade Brestois, just as the Black Stars prepare for a crucial international window.
Nuamah sat out Lyon's Europa League tie with Real Sociedad on Thursday, which sparked concern about whether he would be available for Ghana's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Somalia. His inclusion for the Brest game suggests those fears were premature.
When fit, he has been one of Lyon's most dangerous players this season. His pace, direct running and eye for goal have given the French side a real cutting edge. The former FC Nordsjælland star has made 13 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and setting up one more, which makes him a key figure in the Lyon attack.
His return could hardly come at a better moment for Ghana. The Black Stars stumbled early in the AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign and need to get back on track in the doubleheader against Somalia. Nuamah is expected to feature in the squad for both matches, and his form at club level gives the team a timely lift as they chase a reset.
