Ghana's Black Starlets want the WAFU B final and a place at the 2027 U-17 AFCON, and a win over Benin would put them a step closer.
Ghana's next generation has big ambitions in Burkina Faso. The Black Starlets are chasing a place in the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship final and, beyond that, a ticket to the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, according to team media officer Sheikh Tophic Sienu.
The campaign started well. Ghana beat Togo 1-0 in their opening Group A match, and with Benin and Burkina Faso playing out a draw in the other fixture, the Starlets sit at the top of the table.
Next up is Benin on Tuesday, 13 October. Victory would book Ghana a semi-final place and move them closer to their goals at the tournament.
Speaking on Sporty FM, Sienu was clear about what the squad is after. "The main target of the Black Starlets is to reach the final of the WAFU B U17 and qualify for the U17 AFCON," he said, adding that the Ghana Football Association is doing everything it can to keep the players motivated.
For a country with a long record of producing young talent, the message is simple. Win the group, reach the final and book a spot on the continental stage. The Starlets have the momentum, and now they have to keep it going against Benin.
