Ghana FA's women's football chief joined 50 leaders from all six confederations in Rabat for a four-day FIFA programme on leadership and influence.
Ghana has a seat at the table where the future of women's football leadership is being shaped. Jennifer Amankwaa Sarpong, Head of Women's Football Development at the Ghana Football Association, took part in the FIFA Women in Football Leadership programme in Rabat, Morocco.
The four-day programme ran from 18 to 21 October 2026, during the opening week of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Morocco 2026. Fifty participants from all six confederations gathered for intensive sessions on leadership, development and collaboration in the women's game.
The initiative, led by senior FIFA officials, aims to put more women into decision-making roles in football at every level. It is one of 13 Women's Football Development Programmes open to FIFA's 211 Member Associations. The Rabat gathering mixed graduates from cohort two with new arrivals from cohort three. FIFA Chief Women's Football Officer Dame Sarai Bareman, FIFA Council Member Dr Johanna Wood and representatives of FIFA's Women's Football Division were also there.
Participants also watched matches at the U-17 Women's World Cup and visited the FIFA office in Rabat, so the classroom learning sat right next to the action on the pitch. Bareman said bringing the two cohorts together gave participants a valuable chance to swap ideas and build lasting relationships.
For Ghana and for African football, this is the kind of pipeline that matters. Strong leaders in boardrooms and federations shape how the women's game grows on the continent, from grassroots to WAFCON stages.
