Ex-GFA communications chief Ibrahim Sannie Daara wants Godwin Attram and Desmond Ofei to steer the Black Stars through the Somalia double-header.
Ghana's search for a new Black Stars boss is dragging on, and former GFA Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara has a plan to keep the ship steady. He wants Godwin Attram and Desmond Ofei handed the interim reins for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Somalia.
The call comes at a tense moment for four-time African champions. Carlos Queiroz has left after a rocky start to the campaign, which brought a 2-0 defeat to Ivory Coast in Bouake and then a 4-2 loss to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium. Two games in, qualification hopes are already under pressure.
The GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation set up a five-member committee to find Queiroz's successor. Its mandate has now been extended, so the two bodies have confirmed that an interim technical team will take charge of Ghana's Matchday Three and Four fixtures against Somalia.
Sannie Daara argues that Attram and Ofei are the right fit for that window. In his view, they should take the Somalia games and the committee should then take its time to find the right permanent coach, rather than rush an appointment under pressure.
The debate shows how much domestic football governance shapes the national team. With the qualifiers already testing Ghana, the decisions made in the coming days will matter as much as anything on the pitch.
