Bauers and Mitchell go deep in the seventh to flip Game 3 and push the two-time champion Dodgers to the brink of elimination.
Milwaukee is one victory away from the World Series. The Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 on Wednesday night to take a 3-0 stranglehold on the National League Championship Series, and they did it by silencing a rally the champions thought had turned the game.
Los Angeles had just seized a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth, and the crowd was loud. Then came the seventh. Jake Bauers launched a home run off Blake Snell to level the game, and Garrett Mitchell followed immediately with another to put the Brewers back in front. Two swings, two shots over the fence, and the whole mood of the night flipped.
Milwaukee kept the pressure on from there and closed out the win, leaving the two-time defending World Series champions in a hole almost no team escapes. The Dodgers have fallen behind 3-0 in a best-of-seven series just once before in franchise history, when the Baltimore Orioles swept them in the 1966 World Series.
The Dodgers now face elimination on Thursday. The Brewers will be looking to finish the sweep and book a trip to the Fall Classic, while Los Angeles must find a way to do what no team in its history has done: climb out of a 3-0 deficit.
