Ghanaian-heritage winger Jeremy Doku came off the bench to blast Man City past ten-man Liverpool in a 3-0 Premier League statement.
Jeremy Doku, the Belgian winger with proud Ghanaian roots, made his mark on Sunday. He came off the bench and scored in Manchester City's 3-0 win over a Liverpool side reduced to ten men in Premier League Matchweek 6.
Doku began on the bench and was introduced in the 56th minute. The first half had produced no goals, and the game was still finely balanced until Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch was shown a second yellow card for a foul in the 62nd minute. The red card swung the match City's way.
City moved quickly against the ten men. Three minutes later, Erling Haaland pounced on a rebound inside the box and fired a low shot into the bottom-left corner to break the deadlock.
Doku then added his own moment in the 68th minute. He killed an excellent pass with a sharp first touch, took a step, and unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the area into the top-right corner. It gave City a firm grip on the contest, and they closed out a 3-0 win.
For Doku, who has long been one of the league's most exciting dribblers, it was a reminder of the impact he can have off the bench. For Liverpool, it was a tough afternoon that the red card made much harder.
