Despite two straight defeats and a coaching exit, Kofi Adams insists Ghana will still book their ticket to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana's Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams is refusing to hit the panic button. He says the Black Stars will still qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, even after a disastrous start to their qualifying campaign.
The four-time African champions sit bottom of Group C with zero points after two games. They first went down 2-0 to Ivory Coast in Bouaké. Then came the bigger shock at the Accra Sports Stadium, where The Gambia stormed back to win 4-2 after Ghana had surrendered a two-goal lead.
The fallout has been swift. Head coach Carlos Queiroz has left his post following the poor results, leaving the national team in transition at a critical stage of the qualifiers.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Adams was candid about how painful the Gambia defeat was to watch. He said it was a hard night to endure and that he struggled to believe what unfolded at home. Even so, he stressed that his belief in the team has not wavered and that he is convinced Ghana will make it to the tournament.
The pressure is now firmly on the Black Stars to turn words into points. With a continental giant stuck at the foot of the group, every upcoming qualifier carries huge weight for Ghanaian fans demanding a response.
