Ex-Barça Atlètic left-back David Oduro ends his long wait with a Ligue 2 bow for Annecy, even in a 3-0 loss to Montpellier.
Ghanaian youngster David Oduro has finally got his moment in France. The 20-year-old left-back made his FC Annecy debut on Saturday, October 31, after a frustrating wait caused by work permit delays.
Oduro came off the bench in the 59th minute of Annecy's 3-0 defeat to Montpellier in Ligue 2. The result stung, but for the Ghanaian it was a big step. He had secured his work authorisation in September and had been waiting for his chance ever since.
The defender arrived at Annecy in August 2026 from Barcelona's reserve side, Barça Atlètic, on a deal running until June 30, 2028. He had joined Barcelona in August 2024 from Accra Lions for a reported €150,000, after rising through the Ghanaian club's youth system and earning promotion to the senior squad.
In two years in Spain, Oduro played in the lower divisions with Barça Atlètic and picked up valuable experience. Now the challenge is to turn that foundation into regular minutes in France, adapt to the pace of Ligue 2 and fight for a place in Annecy's team.
